Helen. at LaMama - Presented by Supergeographics and EnGarde Arts

“…Rivera, who is diminutive and constantly seesawing between BDE and hapless confusion, get[s] real mileage out of Menelaus. Strutting and glory-obsessed in their plastic crown and patterned pajamas … they easily read as children — John and Michael ready to go fight pirates. As they swagger and pose and fail to compute simple information (and as Menelaus’s crown slips repeatedly down over his face), their double-act quickly becomes some of the most entertaining work in the production.” - The Vulture

“There is an exception amongst the play’s women, and that’s Rivera’s wily, gripping performance as Hekuba.

This Hekuba is part Elaine Stritch, part semi-feral orphan. Rivera flashes between amused existential cynicism and animal aggression.

The point is, Rivera remains exciting to watch, even bounding around the stage barking. Throughout Helen., they add the kind of dimension, both comic and tragic, that the play so needs.” -The Vulture

HURRICANE DIANE @ KITCHEN THEATRE COMPANY in Ithaca, NY

After surviving COVID, I skipped off to Ithaca, NY to seduce some suburban spouses in Madeline George’s Hurricane Diane - my first Regional Theater gig in over 3 years. A very validating experience as both a queer, gender non-conforming actor AND a climate justice advocate.

NEXT!

Well - Its been a while. I’ve done a lot, but that’s all water under the bridge now… (Alright fine, here’s a gallery of everything I’ve done in the last year) Just let the automatic slideshow wash over you, and try not to be so impressed that your head explodes.

Okay… take a breath.

Ready? Okay… Here's what’s coming up:

And then the DolphVAN and I will be migrating south for the Winter because Agile Rascal Bicycle Touring Theater does FLORIDA!

This is Montana…But imagine those mountains are palm trees. Lots of images and a crowdfunding campaign to come!

And I and Saturn.

I'M BACK! Since traveling (NYC > LV > LA > THAILAND > SF > NYC) a lot has come up. But I won't bore you with the return of a certain planet that spells imminent death for your innocence. #adulting

While traveling through Thailand for a month... I had ample time to work on my #tinyplay, because sometimes you just want to see a chick build a house onstage. And this has inspired my decision to go full-tilt-boogie on converting a short-bus into a tiny house. With all this new-found freedom I am finally pursuing my dream home. 2018. #havebuswilltravel

Let's pretend that little girl is my inner child. ok?

Let's pretend that little girl is my inner child. ok?

So even though its February, let's all have an equally spoiled year of self-love. That's it for the recap.

Stay tuned for some SUPER SPECIAL NEWS that definitely deserves its own blog.

The Last 5 Months...

Since March I've been collaborating on a new play about to go into rehearsals next month!

Orphans & Outsiders is a new play about everything we are grappling with socially right now, racism, sexism, trans-phobia, survivalism, all the isms. I have been working closely with Andrew Garrett, Writer & Director of O&O, and an incredibly talented, diverse cast. Click through on the poster image below to check out our website and learn more about the production in November!

THEN! Andrew and I spent a week on Block Island with In The Water Theatre Company  continuing work on the play - and as an artist personally, I was able to connect with a network of incredible theater artists I didn't know I had! Thank you SITI Company and Alaine Alldaffer!

nd just before that, I got a mysterious email from David Warren at Creative Loafing Magazine back in my hometown of Tampa. David was checking up on my progress since 2005 when I was selected at 18 years old to be considered an "Artist to Watch" in the area under 25. Well, I'm 29 now, and David reacquainted me with the cover shot (right next to my pal, Dolly Parton! and High School buddy, Taylor Trensch!) with an update on my artistic journey...

This is the part where people say awesome things about me.

On this page you will find updates on what projects I'm working on, places I will be performing, and the software compatible with my location-chip so you can track my every move.

-What's that? -Oh, ok.

Sorry, R&D is delayed indefinitely on the prototype. I suppose that means for now, you'll just have to check back here and take it from me.

In the meantime, the sidebar to your right includes my up to date reviews and mentions. These will also be updated as more people continue to say awesome things...about me.

Thanks for visiting!
